Kaleidoscope is not the easiest word to spell.
But the last thing we as The Kaleidoscope, Brighter are trying for is easy.
Formed out of humble beginnings in Bowling Green, Ohio, we’ve come a long way from a few friends getting together occasionally to write music. With a lineup that now includes Chad Every and Bevan Binder on guitars, Brian Yinger on drums, Scott Kelley on bass and Abby Wood on vocals, Kaleidoscope are hoping to inspire a new way of doing things.
“I think we feel that somewhere along the way, a lot of the passion for music has died. It’s become about so many other things, about scenes and all that.”
From one song to the next, we hope to make music that is not so much about knowing what to expect as it is about the progression and movement from one emotion to another, all within the same set.
Guitarist Chad Every started small, knowing he wanted to play music, the he loved to create it and experience that with other people. Today the five strong group have come a long way from his humble, acoustic beginnings.
“I think we are avoiding as much as possible ever falling into one genre or another entirely. I hope that we’re always making music that is cohesive, yet still surprising,” says lead vocalist, Abby Wood.
At the end of the day, it is just much easier to deal with and handle things when you are able to put them in categories and boxes. If there’s any easier way of describing something, we as humans are going to do it. We don’t want it to be easy. Here is our attempt to going back to making music that matters.
